Lake Rerewhakaaitu - Rerewhakaaitu Lake Rotorua New Zealand. Lake Rerewhakaaitu supports breeding populations of dabchicks, scaup and the largest breeding population of banded dotterel in the Rotorua Ecological District.

Lake Rerewhakaaitu

29 kilometers to the southeast of Rotorua lies Lake Rerewhakaaitu, a special site for bird-lovers. It supports breeding populations of dabchicks, scaup and the largest breeding population of banded dotterel in the Rotorua Ecological District.

There are two camping grounds at Lake Rerewhakaaitu at Ash Pit Bay and Aawatua Bay and both have first come, best spot policies. There are toilets on site, but no rubbish bins, so please take away more than memories with you, leaving the camps as pristine as you found them.
